Lunga District
After hours of navigating the vast Bangweulu Wetlands, we arrive in Lunga District, officially established in 2012. Comprising countless islands, the district greets visitors with warm smiles and hospitality. Fishing remains the backbone of the local economy. Across the wetlands, everyday life unfolds: families paddling canoes, children at temporary fishing camps waving at passing boats, fishermen casting and hauling their nets, traders transporting goods across the waterways, and residents travelling between islands aboard a variety of vessels.
